DON'T BUY A TIBETAN TERRIER

If you want to get a Tibetan Terrier, I'll tell you several reasons why you should think about it a few more times. A Tibetan Terrier is not a dog for everyone. There are hundreds of different dog breeds, and everyone can definitely find one they like. Are you sure that the right one for you is a Tibetan Terrier?

Don't buy a Tibetan Terrier if you want an easy dog
Tibetan Terriers are not easy dogs. Neither in terms of care nor in terms of character. Their insatiable self-confidence often comes out as stubbornness, and they like to take the place of they choose in the pack. Tibetans are smart, but they can also act very simple if they want to.

Don't buy a Tibetan Terrier if you don't have the time or will to train.
A Tibetan Terrier is a stubborn dog with a strong will of its own. If not trained, they can become quite a pest or even an aggressive dog. The Tibetan Terrier requires basic training so that it can function properly in everyday life. This also makes the dog less stressed. Training also requires a sense of humor and perseverance – the Tibetan Terrier is not earnest dog, and neither should its owner be.

Do not buy a Tibetan Terrier based on its appearance.
The Tibetan Terrier's impressive appearance often captivates its viewers. Its magnificent, ground-covering movements and beautiful, shiny coat are a magnificent sight. However, these are not automatic for the dog, but a lot of work has been done for these characteristics: by both the breeder and the owners. Coat care can be extremely handful, especially when the coat changes. You can imagine that long, ground-dragging coat on a rainy day after an hour's walk. Tibetan Terriers also need to be activated on rainy days.

Do not get a Tibetan Terrier if you are a cleanliness enthusiast.
The Tibetan Terrier's long coat carries an incredible amount of sand, dust, leaves, branches and twigs. After a rainstorm, not only the dog and the owner are wet, but also the floors and the corner of the sofa, where the dog has gone to sleep in order to get comfortable. Also, when the Tibetan Terrier drinks from the water bowl, the floor gets wet for at least a meter in every direction from the water bowl. Fortunately, there is almost no shedding at all if the coat is cared for regularly.

Do not get a Tibetan Terrier if you do not afford for that.
The money you pay to buy a dog is quite small compared to how much money it will cost to live with – even if the dog stays healthy. High-quality food, coat care equipment, shampoos, conditioners, combs, brushes, possible courses and training, leashes (even those that have been bitten off) will cost a small fortune. Also, possible apartment renovation after the puppyhood, bitten sofa legs and wall corners will cost quite a bit. Get good insurance.

The Tibetan Terrier is not a hypoallergenic dog.
No dog should be bought into a family where allergies are suspected. All dogs emit animal dust and dander. In case of doubt, it is worth getting allergy tests before getting a dog.

Do not buy a Tibetan Terrier if you are not ready to commit to caring for it for the rest of its life.
The Tibetan Terrier is a long-lived dog. It can live up to 15 years. The dog must be cared for for the rest of its life.

Do not buy a Tibetan Terrier from Pet Pursuit if you are not ready to stay in touch with your dog's breeder for the dog's entire life.
Get to know the breed carefully. Get to know different dogs and several breeders. The breeder plays a big role in supporting and helping the owner and the dog's life as they grow from puppy to adult, and from a rabid, toothy monster to a self-respecting Tibetan. We want to actively hear from our bred puppies and stay a part of their lives until they are old. If you don't care about the litter, the parents, or the breeder you get your dog from, don't buy a puppy from us. If you want a breeder who will support you through the ups and downs, and a supportive community around you, a Pet Pursuit dog might be the right choice.
