Päts has been a so-called “old soul” since being a puppy, who does not mess around but takes a moment to consider and only then acts, if necessary. You could describe him as a bit humourless. Guests are greeted with joy, but very soon after greeting them, he seeks his own peace, yet close enough to see the human members of his herd at all times. The same thing happens when outdoors, especially if the children are going in different directions, Pätti's shepherding instinct wakes up. Pättis enjoys long runs and free movement in the forest. At home, he can hardly be detected, except at dinner time, because sleeping in the most twisted positions is perhaps the best pastime he knows. Belly-rubs are sought after whenever it suits the lord, and they shall be requested all the way up to your lap, if you don't otherwise notice him."
